Right before the school year started, Sadie’s home was struck by lightning, which caused it to catch fire. While the house wasn’t a total loss, this caused her family to be displaced with relatives until it could be repaired. Sadie began to struggle with panic attacks during rainstorms and heightened anxiety because she couldn’t seem to get away from the trauma she was experiencing daily. Our Site Coordinator, Amanda, began working with Sadie to help her heal. Aside from emotional support, Amanda provided the family with technology and gift cards to purchase food for the holidays. With Amanda’s help, Sadie has become more like herself again. She feels confident and is trying to form healthy and positive relationships.
