When Miguelangel first met Ms. Hernandez, he was a quiet student who struggled with reading and writing due to dyslexia. Lacking confidence, he doubted his abilities, but he was determined to join the CIS-SA program. Ms. Hernandez made him a promise: “Find me on the first day of school next year, and you’ll be the first student I enroll.” Excited, he kept his word, eager to be part of the program.
Through CIS-SA, Miguelangel participated in self-esteem activities, skill-building exercises, and positive affirmations like “I am brave. I can do anything.” Over the years, he grew from a reserved student into an active participant and leader in his group. He now helps his friends, speaks up with confidence, and enjoys the friendships he’s built through CIS-SA.
His transformation has been life-changing. “He went from not wanting to go to school or have friends, to now having a phone filled with friends’ names,” his mother shares. “He’s opened up so much—it’s amazing.” With CIS-SA by his side, Miguelangel has found his voice and a bright future ahead.
