Meet Liza

When Liza joined Communities In Schools at John Jay High School during her freshman year, she was shy and reserved.  Her Site Coordinators, Elaine and Maryam, were able to support her and get her connected into the InspireU program.  “She has been involved in the InspireU mentorship program with The Hartford throughout her entire high school experience.  Liza and her mentor created a strong bond.  They met monthly, and her mentor often came to have lunch with her at school,” said Elaine.  Going from a shy student with no clue what would come next, Elaine and Maryam say Liza’s senior year has been filled with nothing but achievements and conquering her goals.  “Even with the pandemic, Liza never gave up, staying true to her success.  She stayed connected with us, and her mentor, with updates about college and changes in her life,” Elaine said.

Before Liza heads off for college in the fall, Elaine and Maryam wanted to leave her with a few words of encouragement:

We are extremely proud of you and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for you!
