The Friends of Communities In Schools of San Antonio is a group of influential community members with a common passion for supporting and empowering students to graduate and achieve in life.
They collaborate with CIS-SA staff to provide students with enrichment activities, pen pals, and resources to help them succeed. Friends also support CIS-SA by:
- Serving as ambassadors for CIS-SA by spreading the word about our cause
- Attending CIS-SA events & inviting others to learn more
- Participating in volunteer opportunities to make a direct & indirect impact on students
- Connecting CIS-SA with other organizations and companies that are mission aligned to create potential partnership

Becoming a Friend of CIS‑SA connects you with passionate community leaders, allows you to directly support and enrich students’ lives, and empowers you to elevate CIS‑SA’s mission by fostering partnerships and amplifying success stories.

- Provide opportunities to expand possibilities for our students by funding off-campus visits like the McNay and other places

- Provide Emergency Funds when needed by offering relief when programs are at risk

Ready to Become a Friend?
We’re thrilled to announce new membership levels designed to deepen your impact and enhance your connection to our work. Whether you’re a university student, an individual, a family, or someone ready to become a BFF (Best Friend Forever), there’s a level for everyone:
- University Student – $20 | Impacts 1 student
- Individual – $50 | Impacts 2 students
- Family – $100 | Impacts 5 students
- Best Friend – $250 | Impacts 12 students
- BFF – $500 | Impacts 25 students
These are just examples of how your dollar can make a big difference. All members receive an invitation to our annual Fall Gathering. Higher-level members also enjoy special perks, including a CIS-SA student-created gift and exclusive invitations to a private “Friends” social and a museum tour.
There are two ways you can join or renew your membership.
1. Complete the electronic membership form here.
2. Mail us your membership form and a check for your dues. Please ensure that you indicate ‘Friends of CIS-SA’ in the memo of your check.
