Shelly is the Training and Education Manager at Communities In Schools of San Antonio. She has worked for CIS-SA for over 13 years. She is a Licensed Master of Social Work that has worked in the field for over 20 years. She has training in Mindfulness, Trauma Informed Care, is a Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) and Youth Aware of Mental Health (YAM) Instructor and is a Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Practitioner through the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development at Texas Christian University. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in Theatre.
Trauma Informed Care
Ever wonder what Trauma Informed Care means? Join us for a review of the definition of trauma and learn what it means to be trauma informed. Participants will also learn how trauma affects the brain and the importance of attachment. Participants will be introduced to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’s) and gain tools to create a trauma informed classroom or office. This course is taught by a Licensed Master Social Worker. CEU’s included.
