On Veteran’s Day, we want to honor the veterans in CIS-SA who are dedicated to supporting students as AmeriCorps Members. Meet Heather, who faithfully served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years as an E6 Master-At-Arms First Class Petty Officer from 1994-2014. Her dedicated service was due partly to honor her heritage, but also because service is at the heart of our nation. “It was important to me to continue the Native American tradition of being a warrior. I am proud of my tribal affiliation to the Navajo Code Talkers. I think service is important and without volunteers we wouldn’t be the great nation we are today,” Heather said. We honor Heather’s service today, but her dedication to giving back to the community isn’t to be celebrated on just one day – every day she is serving as an AmeriCorps Member. Thank you, Heather!
