STEM at Communities In Schools of San Antonio

Launched in 2014, STEM at Communities In Schools of San Antonio has served over 10,700 students and family members through enrichment activities, field trips, and school-wide STEM events. Read below on how you can bring STEM to your campus! The 2022 – 2023 program is provided through a partnership with the Texas Research & Technology Foundation. Step Into STEM is a career awareness program that inspires middle school students to choose STEM education to prepare for future careers.

STEM Family Events

Engage your whole school with hands-on academic activities for families to explore together at a STEM or STEAM event on your campus. Save your school time and money with ready-to-go STEM kits aligned to classroom standards and guaranteed to build excitement and awareness of STEM! Each activity has a real-world career connection and covers topics such as biology, chemistry, aerospace, technology, art & design, robotics, mathematics, as well as mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering.

STEM Career Toolkits

STEM Career Toolkits are distributed to all CIS-SA middle school Site Coordinators. Activities include STEM lessons with career awareness components to launch students into STEM pathways. Activities include solving mysteries with a digital microscope, building a hydraulic robotic claw, and learning about careers with STEM Career BINGO! Schools are also provided with posters that include a QR code that links to the TRTF’s Step Into STEM social media account that features local STEM professionals.
