Communities In Schools asks for your personal information when you subscribe to one of our mailing lists, make a donation, submit a feedback or contact form, register for our Alumni Network or Advocacy Network, or enroll in one of our programs. During this process, Communities In Schools may ask for your name, organization (if applicable), address, city, state, zip code, e-mail and phone number. This information is voluntary, and Communities In Schools will not sell or trade your personal information. If you voluntarily opt in to one of our promotional programs and submit content to us, your name, organization, and biographical information may appear with your content on our website, social media or other promotional materials. (See our Terms of Service ) When you visit our website, the following information is automatically aggregated anonymously: the name of your Internet service provider, the browser and operating system of the computer you are using, the website that referred you to us, the pages you request, the date and time of those requests, and the amount of time spent viewing each request. If you receive an e-mail from us, we may be able to know if you clicked on any of the links embedded within the text of the e-mail. Given the nature of advocacy campaigns and the need to utilize personal information to direct your actions, we will know in which campaigns you voluntarily participate.

Communities In Schools is committed to safeguarding your privacy when communicating with our organization.

This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you opt-in to receive SMS/Text messages from us. The messages will be from a designated 10-digit long code telephone number (10 DLC), referred to as our 10 DLC SMS/Text message services hereafter. No number collected from this site will be enrolled in our 10 DLC SMS/Text messaging services. The only way to enroll in our 10 DLC SMS/Text messaging services will be to enroll in a Communities In Schools of San Antonio service during our referral process through one of our affiliated schools or community organizations as defined in this policy. You will need to opt-in into the optional SMS/Text message services during the intake process by agreeing to services on our intake form AND verbal confirmation during the introductory phone call by your assigned service provider.

Information We Collect

Communities In Schools of San Antonio will only contact individuals referred to our services by our school-based staff, a partnering affiliated school staff, or other community organization. By completing the referral process, individuals provide written consent to receive SMS/text messaging from a service provider for which we will collect the following information:

  • Phone Number: Required to send you SMS/text messages.
  • Name: As required for disseminating services and may be used to personalize our messages.
  • Consent Records: Your signature on our referral form serves as your agreement to opt-in to our 10 DLC SMS/Text messaging services, as specified on the form.
  • Verbal Consent: After the referral process, a service provider from our organization will contact you to provide a phone number for future incoming messages from our organization. They will ask you to verbally confirm to receive text messages. You may also contact us by calling the number provided.

How We Use Your Information

The nature of our 10 DLC SMS/Text messaging services will be for informational purposes only between a service provider from our organization and you. We will use the information we collect to:

  • Send you updates and other information related to your services with our organization and other information via SMS/Text messages.
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
  • Improve our services and develop new features internally by monitoring and analyzing trends, usage, and activities related to our 10 DLC SMS/Text messaging services.

Our 10 DLC SMS/Text messaging services are not intended for individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 for our 10 DLC SMS/Text messaging services. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will cease messaging services and take steps to delete the information from our systems.
